Death toll from Russian strike on Groza has risen: five people are still missing

At least 53 people died as a result of a Russian missile strike on Groza in the Kharkiv region. This is the data as of October 10, which includes people whose deaths were confirmed during examinations and identifications.

The death toll may increase. Five people are still missing. This was announced on Tuesday morning, October 10, at a briefing by the head of the Kharkiv Police Investigation Department, Serhiy Bolvinov.

He explained that DNA examinations of the remains are ongoing. "We have identified 53 victims so far. Therefore, we can say that today we have increased the number of dead. And taking into account the unidentified body parts and reports of missing persons, the final number may increase," said the law enforcement official.

In total, after the October 5 tragedy, when Russian troops hit a village cafe-shop with a missile, the police received 22 reports of missing persons. Four were not confirmed - the people were found alive. 13 missing civilians were identified among the victims of the enemy attack. Five more applications remain. Experts are working to quickly identify who the bodies and fragments belong to.

Bolvinov said that 135 remains have already been examined. "We are collecting the remains of civilians without a break. From the first minute, despite the extremely difficult moral conditions, we collected the remains of those killed in the village of Groza and identified these people. The mutilated bodies had to be collected in parts... We are still doing it," he said.

"DNA laboratories have been working around the clock for five days. Criminologists and investigators are also working," Bolvinov emphasized.
