Czech Republic to supply weapons to Ukraine with financial support from Denmark and the Netherlands: what is known

During the 15th meeting of the Contact Group for Assistance to Ukraine at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the Czech Republic reached an agreement with Denmark and the Netherlands to supply weapons to Ukraine. The Czech defense industry, with the financial support of its partners, will supply the Ukrainian army with tanks, howitzers, small arms, ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles, air defense and electronic warfare equipment.

It has already been agreed to transfer 15 modernized T-72EA tanks in the coming months. This was reported by Ukrinform, citing a statement by Czech Deputy Defense Minister Daniel Blazkovec.

On September 19, representatives of the defense ministries of the Czech Republic, Denmark and the Netherlands signed an agreement on joint supplies of weapons and equipment to Ukraine.

"Specifically, we will be talking about the supply of additional tanks, howitzers, small arms, infantry fighting vehicles, air defense equipment and electronic warfare equipment or ammunition from companies in our defense industry," Blazkovec said.

The Czech Republic plans to transfer both modern Czech weapons and modernized Soviet-designed equipment. They will start with the transfer of 15 modernized T-72EA tanks "in the coming months."

Further deliveries will be determined by the needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

"We will receive information from Ukraine about the current need... Czech companies will provide us with their proposals, and then we will present everything to our foreign partners who will finance the project," the Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation Agency, part of the Czech Ministry of Defense, explained the mechanism of the agreement.

On September 19, representatives of defense ministries from almost 50 partner countries of Ukraine gathered in Germany. They promised to increase support for Ukraine. In particular, they discussed providing Ukraine with additional air defense systems, Leopard tanks, and training for F-16 pilots.

The meeting was attended for the first time by Rustem Umerov, the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
