Bakhmut defence continues, ammunition deliveries possible - Cherevaty

The Ukrainian military continues to hold the defence in the hottest point on the front - the town of Bakhmut in Donetsk Region. The situation there is difficult, but the ability to supply the Defence Forces has not been disrupted.

There are ways to deliver ammunition and evacuate wounded fighters. The speaker of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevaty, told this in a national telethon broadcast on Sunday, March 5.

He confirmed that on the Bakhmut direction, the Russian occupants are hitting infrastructure important for the Ukrainian military, in particular bridges. However, the units that hold the defence of the populated area are finding ways to deliver everything they need to the city in various ways.

"There (to Bakhmut direction. - Ed.) there is a possibility to deliver ammunition, provisions, medicines, to take the wounded. I understand the importance of the issue, but no army in the world announces its tactical actions," the speaker stressed.

He also admitted that the Bakhmut-Konstantinovka road is indeed extremely dangerous now.

On the previous day, Cherevaty denied reports of the alleged withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Bakhmut. He stressed that the city was under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

Earlier, Voloshchenko "Stone", a military officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, spoke about the situation in Bakhmut. According to him, in the south of Bakhmut, the Ukrainian military have already entered the trenches which the occupants dug for themselves. He stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no plans to retreat from Bakhmut.

"Stone added that the Russian army tried to enter from the south and even had some successes, but the AFU brigade pushed them back.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, Bakhmut deputy mayor Oleksandr Marchenko said that street battles continue in Bakhmut between Russian occupation troops and Ukrainian defenders. Russia does not control the city.
