Another camp for Russian prisoners of war has been opened in Ukraine: it is said to be not the last. Video

New camp opened for Russian prisoners of war

Another camp for holding Russian prisoners of war has been opened in Ukraine. It is called "Center-3"

This was reported by the state project "I Want to Live". They note that this is not the last camp.

"This is probably not the last such camp for Russian prisoners of war to start operating this year," the statement said.

According to the project's press service, the new camp was opened due to the large number of Russians who surrendered, as well as the fact that the aggressor country was blocking prisoner-of-war exchanges.

In particular, in "Center 3", Russians will be able to work, play sports, and have fun. The facility has special places for cooking, recreation, and communication with psychologists. The camp also has a church where prisoners can go.

The project notes that, unlike the terrorist country, Ukraine adheres to the Geneva Convention. Russian soldiers who have been captured are not held in colonies but in camps and special detention centers. They have the right to communicate with their families, receive parcels, transfers, and work. Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross are also allowed to visit them.

It is worth adding that the last exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine under the 100 for 100 formula took place on February 8, 2024, after which the parties exchanged the bodies of dead soldiers several times. There have been no new prisoner exchanges since.

As a reminder, there are three camps for prisoners of war in Ukraine: "Center 1" in the Lviv region, and "Center 2" in the Vinnytsia region. "Center 3" was opened in the Dnipropetrovs'k region.

A few weeks ago, a representative of the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Captain Andrii Yusov, said that Ukraine plans to open an additional camp to hold Russian prisoners of war as soon as possible. Cases of voluntary surrender to the occupiers have become more frequent, particularly in the Kharkiv sector, where fierce fighting is currently taking place.

He also appealed to Russian soldiers, primarily from the Leningrad and Moscow military districts, who are currently in the Kharkiv region, with a proposal to surrender.
