Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, has instructed the UN General Assembly to draft a resolution stressing the need to establish a special international tribunal whose main goal is to punish the aggressor who initiated the unprovoked war against Ukraine. The draft resolution will be developed in consultation with Ukraine's partners to ensure a coordinated approach to achieving this goal.
This was reported by the press service of the President. President Zelenskyy has instructed to draft a UN General Assembly resolution expressing the need to establish a special international tribunal. This draft will be agreed with Ukraine's partners to achieve a coordinated position.
"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the establishment of a special international tribunal to try the Russian military and political leadership for the crime of aggression against Ukraine," the president's website said.
As emphasised in the message, the President notes that the occupying Russian troops in Ukraine are displaying severe forms of aggression. This includes the illegal annexation of territories, murder, torture, rape of civilians, genocide, destruction of civilian infrastructure and other similar actions.
"The tribunal is necessary to punish the aggressor who started an unprovoked war against our country and thus restore justice," the President said.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers the question of whether those responsible for Russia's unprovoked aggressive war against Ukraine should go to prison to be a simple one. This is just a question of whether the murderers should be punished fairly.
