Ukrainian citizens continue to leave occupied Crimea en masse: activists explain the reason
Over the past 12 months, more than 20 thousand Ukrainian citizens have left the occupied Crimea. Local residents continue to leave the Russian-controlled peninsula in large numbers.
This was reported to Krym.Realii by the Crimean branch of the international movement for the de-occupation of Crimea #LiberateCrimea. "In the face of increasing restrictions, threats and occupation, Crimeans who have Ukrainian citizenship prefer to seek a better life outside of Crimea," Crimean activists said.
They estimate that in the new school year, almost 10,000 fewer students will sit at school desks in Crimea than last year. The Avito website has 12,000 houses and 33,000 apartments for sale in Crimea.
In particular, the indigenous population, the Crimean Tatars, are leaving Crimea. We are talking about thousands of people, many of whom are leaving for Germany and Turkey. For example, a quarter of all applicants who apply to the Consulate General of Ukraine in Istanbul to obtain Ukrainian documents come from Crimea.
It is noted that in some European countries, the diaspora of Crimean Tatars has grown significantly since the beginning of the full-scale war.
The Kremlin is silent about the situation with migration from Crimea - official Russian statistics show a positive migration balance of about two thousand people. These are mainly labor migrants and Russian residents who continue to move to Crimea. Ukrainian citizens are leaving the peninsula.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, activists of the Yellow Ribbon movement held a large-scale rally in the occupied territories on Independence Day. Hundreds of Ukrainians in dozens of cities in Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia reminded that a huge number of our compatriots remain under the rule of the occupiers, waiting for liberation and victory.
