In the Kursk region of Russia, on September 10 and 11, the aggressor state's troops conducted counterattacks along the western edge of the ledge controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. There is information that Russia captured several settlements northeast and south of the village of Koreneve.

Ukrainian soldiers, for their part, launched new attacks against counterattacking Russian troops west of the village of Snahost in Korenove district, as well as along the entire front line in Kursk region. The situation was assessed by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in a report on September 11.

American analysts pointed out that the Russian Armed Forces are currently conducting counterattacks along the western edge of the Ukrainian advance in the Kursk region, in an area that mostly consists of fields and small settlements. The aggressor is probably trying to take more tactically advantageous positions before launching a larger counteroffensive.

"The size, scope, and potential prospects for Russian counterattacks on September 11 in the Kursk region are unclear, and the situation remains unstable at the time of this report," ISW emphasized.

Geolocated photos and videos from September 11 show that the Russians have retaken positions east of Zhuravli (northeast of Koreneve).

Footage released on September 10 shows units of the Russian 51st Airborne Regiment of the 106th Airborne Division of the VDP advancing north and northeast of Snahosti (south of Koreneve).

Enemy propaganda sources claim that the advance toward Snahosta was rapid, and that the invaders' overall success was more significant. According to Russian sources, Russia captured it:

- Chervonozhovtneve, northwest of Snahosta;

- Komarivka and Vyshnivka west of Snahosta;

- Apanasivka and the village of 10th October southwest of Snahosta;

- Obukhivka southeast of Snahosta;

- Byakhove, Vnezapne and Hordiivka south of Snahosta;

- Olhovka east of Koreneve.

"Available visual evidence suggests that Russian forces counterattacking in the Kursk region are operating in company-sized units and may be using elements of more experienced units to conduct counterattacks," ISW added.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the heads of the United States and British intelligence agencies, William Burns and Richard Moore, praised the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in Kursk region. This is "a significant tactical success for Kyiv." The situation not only demonstrated the weaknesses of the Russian army, but also "raised many doubts among the Russian elite," the military said.
