The Iskander tactical missile system missile that Russian occupants fired at Odesa region on Thursday was shot down. This event is very significant.

This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, on his Facebook page. He emphasized the importance of this event.

"The Iskander missile that attacked Odesa region yesterday was shot down. This is a significant event. Several previous missiles hit our port infrastructure," he said in a statement.

It is worth noting that Colonel Serhii Yaremenko, commander of the 96th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force, previously explained that only two systems are currently capable of destroying ballistic missiles of this type – Patriot and SAMP/T.

According to him, Ukraine needs at least twice as many such systems to protect large administrative and industrial centers.

"They should always work in pairs because there are certain issues regarding regulations, repair, and training. Such a complex cannot work continuously 24/7. The equipment also needs to rest. And we need a certain number of these systems in the main areas of the combat line," explained Yaremenko.

As a reminder, on Thursday, July 18, an explosion occurred in Odesa. This was reported by the mayor of the city, Hennadii Trukhanov. He noted that a ballistic threat was announced.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Russian terrorists also struck the center of Kherson on July 18. As a result of the shelling, three people were wounded, including a 16-year-old girl and her mother, and doctors are fighting for the minor's life.

In addition, on July 18, Russian terrorists attacked Donetsk region with various caliber weapons. The shelling killed five people and injured six others.
