"The enemy can and should be killed on its territory": Zaluzhnyi talks about a winning strategy in the face of limited resources

Zaluzhnyi said that the enemy must be destroyed on its territory

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, said that Western allies are afraid to provide Kyiv with long-range weapons because they fear escalation. Nevertheless, Ukraine will fight the enemy on its territory, using weapons of its own production.

The military commander said this in an interview with The Washington Post published on Friday, 14 July. The journalists reminded that Western allies have set a condition for long-range missiles and other equipment: they cannot be used to strike at Russian territory.

According to Zaluzhnyi, the army uses Ukrainian-made weapons to strike across the border and will not ask anyone for permission to do so, because the main goal of our country is to save the people and return the territories occupied by Russia.

"In order to save my people, why should I ask anyone for permission to do what I am doing on enemy territory? For some reason, I have to think that I am not allowed to do anything there. Why? Because Putin will use nuclear weapons? Children who are dying don't care," the general said.

Zaluzhnyi stressed that in times of war, the enemy can and should be destroyed on its own territory.

"This is our problem, and it is up to us to decide how to kill this enemy. It is possible and necessary to kill in war on its territory. If our partners are afraid to use their weapons, we will use ours. Exactly as much as necessary," he said.

The publication also writes that a counter-offensive to retake Ukrainian cities captured by the Russian occupiers requires large resources. In particular, these are long-range missiles, shells, and modern F-16 fighters.

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said he was "annoyed" by complaints that the long-awaited counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had allegedly started slower than expected. The general said that our soldiers need more of every type of weapon, ammunition, and modern Western fighters.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Zaluzhnyi said that modern fighters are critically needed by the Ukrainian army to liberate all its territories. At the same time, he stressed that we are not talking about hundreds of aircraft.

According to him, Ukrainian planes cannot yet compete with Russian Su-35 fighters.
