"Some equipment is already on the battlefield": US announces new military aid package for Ukraine

Sullivan said that the US will announce the transfer of new weapons to Ukraine in the coming days

The United States is preparing a new military aid package for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Washington plans to announce it "in the coming days".

This was announced by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at a briefing at the White House on Monday, May 13. The American official did not specify what kind of weapons the Ukrainian army will receive in the next tranche of military aid from the United States.

Sullivan noted that the United States is trying to speed up the pace of arms deliveries and admitted that the delay has "stumped Ukraine."

The representative of the US Presidential Administration also said that some of the equipment announced after the Congress passed the bill with additional funding is already on the battlefield. Some of the weapons will appear on the front line this week.

"I don't want to say that all of the billions of dollars worth of equipment is on the battlefield right now, but what you're going to see is a steady stream week after week," Sullivan added.

As a reminder, on May 10, the United States announced a new $400 million military aid package for Ukraine. Washington will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Patriot missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, Bradley fighting vehicles, MRAPs, Javelin anti-tank systems and ammunition.

White House adviser John Kirby said that units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have already received some weapons from the military aid package that was delivered by the United States on April 24, the first after Congress approved the funding. According to him, the US Department of Defense is making efforts to deliver other weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including from the new aid package.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the NYT said that the Ukrainian army has already received part of the US military aid after the Congress unblocked the funding. The main batch of weapons from large aid packages, in particular from Germany and Britain, will arrive in our country within a few months.
