Russian missile hits a multi-storey building in Uman

During a massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine on April 28, a Russian missile hit a residential high-rise building in Uman, Cherkasy region, destroying the entrance and starting a fire. It also hit warehouse buildings in the city.

The actions of the aggressor country killed three people and injured five. The Cherkasy Regional Military Administration confirmed the incident (to see photos and videos, scroll down to the bottom of the news story).

The head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, said that there were two hits by Russian cruise missiles in Uman: a residential building and a warehouse.

"We are investigating the consequences. All services are working at the scene. The air alert is ongoing," he said.

According to the official, as of 06:20, five people were known to have been injured when a Russian missile hit a house in Uman. All of them were hospitalised.

After 07:00, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko clarified that Russian war criminals had killed three Ukrainians in Uman that night, and eight more people were injured.

"They are being provided with medical care. Search and rescue operations are ongoing," he added.

Zoya Vovk, the former head of the communications sector of the National Police Headquarters in the region, said that the State Emergency Service, police and medics are working at the scene. Local residents are also assisting in the rescue efforts.

Footage from the arrival site was shared online. They show a high-rise building engulfed in fire and smoke.

As a result of the strike, one of the entrances to the residential building was destroyed, while windows and balcony frames were smashed in the rest. There are bricks and fragments of the ceiling under the entrances.
