Ukrainian soldiers of the air defense unit of the 28th Brigade in the Kramatorsk sector hit a Russian SU-25 attack aircraft. The enemy bird, which the soldiers hit with a man-portable air defense missile system, burst into flames and made its last flight.

The spectacular video was posted on Telegram by the 28th Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. The soldiers wished the enemy "eternal flight".

"The fate of the crew is still unknown, but we know for sure that there is one less problem for our infantry," the defenders said.

Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine's StratCom reported that in the first six months of 2024, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down more than 30 aircraft of the Russian occupation forces. Most of them were in Donbas. The ministry clarified that some of the aircraft were damaged but could return to the airfields for long-term repairs. In addition, in some cases, the models of the destroyed aircraft could not be reliably identified.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- On August 22, Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian airfield "Marynovka" in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation - the only one with a shelter for aircraft. Satellite images that later appeared online showed significant damage to the enemy airfield.

- The Wall Street Journal noted that Ukraine has significantly intensified drone attacks on Russian military facilities located far from the front line. They believe that such tactics could force Russia to redeploy its air force and air defense systems away from the front line.
