The United States has provided Ukraine with another significant military aid package in the war with Russia to meet the critical needs of the Ukrainian army. The announced package is worth $275 million.

This was reported by the press service of the US Department of Defense on Friday, May 24. The Pentagon emphasized that the package is part of the United States' efforts to help Ukraine repel the Russian offensive near Kharkiv.

"This is the fifth security assistance package that the President has approved since signing the U.S. National Security Authorization Act last month, and the third package to be allocated under Presidential Decision Authority (PDA)," the Pentagon said.

The new package of US military aid includes:

ammunition for HIMARS;

155-mm and 105-mm artillery shells;

60-mm mortar shells;

heavy anti-tank guided missiles TOW;

Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;

high-precision aircraft munitions;

small arms and additional ammunition for small arms and grenades;

ammunition for demolition;

anti-tank mines;

tactical vehicles for evacuation of equipment;

helmets, body armor and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear protection equipment;

spare parts, maintenance and other support equipment.

"This will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to meet its most urgent needs on the battlefield," the US Department of Defense said.

The Pentagon emphasized that the United States will continue to work with approximately 50 NATO members and partners to ensure "that Ukraine's brave defenders receive the critical capabilities they need to fight Russian aggression."

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the United States' provision of another military aid. He personally thanked the country's leader, Joe Biden, the US Congress and both parties, as well as the American people.

Zelenskyy wrote about this on social media. The President emphasized that this package is critically important right now when the enemy has intensified attacks along the front line.

"Today in Kharkiv, I saw with my own eyes how important it is to strengthen our soldiers to protect our people, our cities and communities. Freedom is a value that both of our nations cherish. To protect it, we need continued strong support from the United States and other allies," Zelenskyy wrote.

As reported, on the same day, May 24, Germany announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. It includes Leopard 1 tanks, HIMARS MLRS, shells and other weapons needed by the Defense Forces.
