It used almost all available forces: Russia deployed 90% of its reserves to Zaporizhzhia to deter Ukrainian counter-offensive - Welt

According to media reports, the Armed Forces have deployed only a quarter of their reserves

Ukraine confirms the ability of its forces to liberate the occupied territory. While Russia has already deployed 90% of its reserves to the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukraine has deployed only 25%. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have a clear advantage over the occupier in the long term.

This was stated by the German newspaper Die Welt in an article of June 12.

"For the first time in a long time, Kyiv is liberating land. However, so far Ukraine is only testing various weapons that could be used for a major attack. It is particularly vulnerable, as evidenced by the destroyed Leopard 2 tanks. However, in the long run, Kyiv has a clear advantage," the newspaper writes.

The article says that the liberation of the territories by Ukrainian defenders has already begun. And everyone has already seen the long-awaited footage that has not been seen since November last year: The Ukrainian Armed Forces are recapturing Russian-occupied settlements and hoisting the blue and yellow flag.

In Zaporizhzhia region, Makarivka, Neskuchne, Blahodatne, Storozheve and Novodarivka have already been liberated from the occupiers. In these places, Ukrainian defenders overcame the first line of enemy defence, after which the Russians were forced to retreat, the media reported.

As the newspaper explained, after Russia's claims that Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and Leopard 2 main battle tanks provided to Ukraine by its partners were destroyed or damaged, the West began to worry that the Ukrainian counteroffensive had run into problems before it even began. However, these sentiments are now changing.

"Ukraine's first territorial gains confirm what many expected or hoped for, namely that the Ukrainians, with their twelve newly formed combat brigades, will be able to succeed in liberating other large parts of the country," the newspaper noted.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, according to the General Staff, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are making progress at the frontlines, while the enemy has suffered heavy losses and increased desertions.
