On the day of the resignation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, German generals visited Kyiv. In particular, Major General Christian Freuding and Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer visited the Ukrainian capital.
According to preliminary data, the German officers arrived in Kyiv secretly at the invitation of Zaluzhny. This was reported by Bild.
It is worth noting that Christian Freuding heads the working group to coordinate assistance to Ukraine, and Carsten Breuer is one of Germany's top military leaders and a confidant of the Minister of Defense.
The German defense ministry said that the purpose of the visit was to exchange information about Ukraine's current defense needs and future military challenges. According to German analysts, this visit could accelerate negotiations on military cooperation between Berlin and Kyiv.
At the same time, after his visit to Kyiv, the Bundeswehr Inspector General told the German media that in the next 5 years, the German army should be ready for a military confrontation with Russia. He warned that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin intends to start a conflict against NATO countries.
Breuer warned that the State Duma of the Russian Federation has actually put the economy of the aggressor country on a military track. He also admitted that despite the losses in Ukraine, the potential of the Russian occupation army continues to grow.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 8, Zelenskyy fired Zaluzhnyi and appointed Syryskyi as the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. The president thanked Zaluzhnyi for two years of defense and said he had offered him to stay in the team.
