For the first time in 35 months of full-scale war, Ukrainian defenders have an advantage over the Russian occupiers in the use of tanks. The defense forces have achieved high efficiency in destroying enemy heavy armored vehicles using drones.

Forbes drew attention to a statement by a Russian propaganda blogger. He complained that Russian Armed Forces tanks often "can only operate from closed positions."

Conversely, Ukrainian tanks operate "more freely," according to the so-called military commander.

He explained this by saying that the Ukrainian Defense Forces "have achieved sufficient scale and diversity in their drones and have perfected the tactics of their use."

Where the Ukrainians have managed to deploy enough groups of drones, the aggressor country's tanks "simply do not reach the line of attack. They are being shot down by UAVs.

"Our drone operations are much weaker," the Kremlin fan lamented. He noted the work of Ukrainian electronic warfare systems and the fact that the Russians have poor control over the quality of their own UAVs due to corruption.

The exception to this likely new dynamic is the Kursk region of Russia. There, enemy tanks are acting more boldly, and some aggressor brigades are equipped with effective fiber-optic drones that cannot be jammed by traditional means.

There is evidence that Russia's new fiber-optic drones have struck Ukrainian tanks in Kursk, including American M-1 Abrams and German Leopard 2s.

But the Kremlin supplies such drones only to "priority sectors," including Kursk, the blogger explained. This leaves units in other areas to make do with drones, which often do not work or are quickly jammed by the AFU's electronic warfare.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Ukrainian Defense Forces killed and wounded about 1750 Russian invaders on January 11. The soldiers also neutralized 175 pieces of military equipment and weapons of the Russian Armed Forces.
