Air Force spoke about the significant advantage of the Patriot air defence missile system received by Ukraine

The Patriot air defence systems provided by Ukraine's Western partners have significantly strengthened our country's air defence forces. Thanks to them, Ukrainian soldiers will be able to keep Russian aircraft away from the Ukrainian border.

This will help reduce the bombing of Ukrainian territories by Russian bombs dropped by Su-35s of the Russian Armed Forces. This was stated by the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, during a telethon.

"From now on, we have become stronger in certain areas where the enemy will use its Su-35 to drop bombs. At least Russian aircraft will stay a little further from our border. I would note that the issue can be fully resolved with the arrival of F-16 aircraft. The latter will be able to respond promptly to the actions of the occupiers and be where they are needed," said the spokesman.

In addition, over the year of full-scale war and periodic massive attacks by Russian missiles and Iranian kamikaze drones, Ukraine's air defence system has been somewhat depleted, so additional reinforcement will not hurt it at all.

Earlier it became known that Patriot air defence systems from the United States, the Netherlands and Germany had finally arrived in Ukraine.

These systems are capable of destroying aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 160 km and ballistic targets at a distance of up to 50 km. The maximum height of target destruction is 24.2 km.

The MIM-104 Patriot missile has a speed of up to Mach 4.1 and weighs over 900 kg.

The Patriot battery includes up to eight launchers, each of which can carry four MIM-104 or MIM-109 missiles or up to 16 ERINT missiles. A fully charged battery can fire 32-128 missiles simultaneously. Depending on the configuration, a Patriot battery can cost from $550 million to $1.1 billion. Experts estimate the cost of launching one missile at $3 million.
