AFU continues successful offensive in Kursk region, new Russian villages taken under control - ISW

Ukrainians continue advancing in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation

Ukrainian forces continue their offensive in the Kursk region. It has been confirmed that the Defense Forces have advanced and taken control of several settlements.

Advances are being made in the areas of Sudzha and Korenevo, as well as in the Glushkovsky district, which Ukrainian soldiers have recently entered. The situation was described by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

On September 14, analysts say, Ukrainian troops continued their offensive in the Glushkovsky district of Kursk region. Geolocation footage analyzed by experts confirms the presence of Ukrainians in the southern part of the village of Veseloye (southwest of Glushkovo), while one Russian military blogger said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces already control the entire village.

Russian sources also reported Ukrainian troops advancing west of Medvezhye and in the fields south of Tetkino (located 25 km southwest of Glushkovo) along the border with Sumy region. They also noted that on September 13 and 14, Ukrainians conducted assaults in the areas of Medvezhye, Veseloye and Obukhovka, as well as near Novy Put.

In this area, in the Glushkovsky district, units of the Russian 56th Air Assault Regiment and the 106th Airborne Division are trying to counter the Ukrainian Defense Forces, at least according to Russian propagandists.

Ukrainian soldiers are also making progress in the Sudzha area. On September 14, they advanced north of this district center, continuing offensive operations along the entire ledge.

One of the Russian "military commanders" reported that Cherkasskoye Porechnoye (north of Sudzha) had come under Ukrainian control.

The Russians also claimed that the Defense Forces continued attacks near Apanasivka (southwest of Korenevo), near Lyubimovka and Obukhovka (southeast of Korenevo), as well as near Maryevka and near Russkaya Konopelka (southeast of Sudzha) on September 13 and 14.

On September 14, Russian forces continued their counterattack. Based on geolocation footage from September 13, ISW analysts recorded Russians entering the western part of Lyuimovka as a result of a mechanized assault, while a Russian military blogger claimed that they managed to reach the southwestern outskirts of the settlement and advanced in the fields northwest of Daryino (south of Lyubimovka).

Footage from September 14 showed the presence of the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the center of Borki (southeast of Sudzha), so it can be assumed that the Russians have advanced within the village.

Russian propagandists cannot agree on how significant this advance is. While one of them assured that the entire village was already under Russian control, the other clarified that there were still Ukrainian forces in the western part of the village.

Units of the 155th Brigade of the Russian Navy, as well as the 11th and 83rd Airborne Brigades, among others, were spotted in this area.

The day before, ISW confirmed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had entered another district in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, the Western media had to admit that they had made a mistake with their initial estimates of the scale of the new Ukrainian border breakthrough in the Kursk region as it turned out to be more serious than previously thought.
