The Ukrainian coach of the Armenian national football team, Oleksandr Petrakov, mentioned the war in Ukraine for the first time during his press conference. The former head coach of the Ukrainian national team answered an Armenian journalist on the eve of the match against Latvia in the 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers.

The interviewer asked whether the team had managed to tune up for this match after the victory over Wales, whether there would be changes to the starting line-up and when Oleksandr Vasylovych would have a smile on his face.

"I'll start answering from the end. You will see a smile when the war in my country is over. Have you managed to get the team on the same page? Yes, we talk a lot, I hold conversations. I was told that Armenian footballers can play only one game, the second one they can't because they have problems with concentration. I can't do a big rotation at the moment," Petrakov said.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Armenia is a CSTO partner of Russia and is on the list of friendly countries of the Russian Federation. The appointment of the Ukrainian became known on 14 January.
