"Yarmolenko did not move": Lucescu called the reasons for Dynamo losing to Aris
Head coach of Dynamo Kyiv Mircea Lucescu called the defeat of his team in the first match of the third qualifying round of the Conference League against Greek Aris deserved. The Romanian specialist criticized his players for a huge number of mistakes that led to dangerous moments.
Lucescu said this at the press conference after the game in Thessaloniki, the official website of Dynamo writes. The head coach emphasized that his charges started to have real problems in the second half of the game under Andriy Yarmolenko's responsibility.
"Aris deserved this win, which they secured in the second part of the second half. We started playing too late. We expected that the opponent would come out of zones, which would give us space. Before the game I expected Aris to perform many attacks, but they didn't, they waited and earned a penalty. They had the opportunity to score twice more. There were none in the first half, but there were plenty in the second half. Mostly through the left flank, where Yarmolenko did not follow Ferrari, made a lot of very dangerous passes and let the opponent score. But mistakes led to that," Lucescu summarized the game.
It should be noted that the teams' return match will take place in Bucharest on Thursday, August 17. Dynamo will have to win back the missed goal in Thessaloniki.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, fans of the Greek Aris hung out an insulting banner about the Defenders of Ukraine who oppose Russian aggression.
