"We don't want such an Olympics": Russian Deputy Prime Minister calls the condemnation of the war in Ukraine a humiliation for Russians

Chernyshenko criticised the IOC

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko has called the conditions for the admission of athletes from the Russian Federation to competitions presented by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) humiliating. The official considers the condemnation of the war in Ukraine by representatives of the aggressor country to be a "betrayal of the Motherland".

Chernyshenko said this in a commentary to the propaganda news agency R-Sport. He accused the IOC of politicising sport and expressed confidence that most Russian athletes would not accept these conditions, as "we do not want such an Olympics".

"Unfortunately, international sports federations no longer adhere to the principle of 'out of politics'. The IOC is putting forward a humiliating ultimatum to our athletes: if you want to participate in the Olympics, you need to essentially betray your homeland, condemn it, and then we will let you in, but under a neutral flag and without the anthem. Do we need such an Olympics? We do not want such an Olympics," Chernyshenko said.

Recall that the IOC recommended that international federations suspend Russian athletes who are affiliated with the Russian army and security forces, as well as team sports. They should also not support the war in Ukraine.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, two-time world curling champion Anastasia Bryzgalova called nonsense the IOC's demand that Russian athletes condemn the war in Ukraine. She also admitted that she was afraid to say the name of her country at the 2018 Olympics.
