Famous fighter gets belt without a fight
The son of the legendary Russian boxer Kostya Tszyu has officially become the World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion. Tim Tszyu (31-2, 25 KOs) received the championship belt after its previous owner, Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs), withdrew from the fight for the super middleweight title against Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs).

The WBO stripped Charlo of his title because he refused to fight Tim Tszyu and chose to fight Canelo. Now Tszyu is the champion and will make his first defense on October 15 against Brian Mendoza.

It is worth noting that the Charlo-Alvarez fight ended in favor of the Mexican. Canelo had a total advantage, knocked his opponent down, but eventually settled for a crushing victory on points: 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109.

Earlier, Kostya Tszyu found four reasons why he might "duck" mobilization and not go to war in Ukraine. The former boxer did not condemn his country's aggression against Ukraine.
