Olha Davydko faces a criminal term

Ukraine's first-ever heavyweight sumo world champion and European sumo champion, Olha Davydko, has been served with a notice of suspicion by the Prosecutor's Office of Crimea and Sevastopol. The 37-year-old world and European champion in belt wrestling, winner of the World Judo Championships and the World Sambo Championships in 2014 stayed on the peninsula after its occupation and began helping the Russian army as a volunteer.

"As a public figure, the woman repeatedly spoke to propaganda media in support of the 'SMO' and regularly posted messages on social networks about meetings and calls to help the occupiers," the Ukrainian agency said on Facebook.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SSU Main Directorate in the AR of Crimea. The actions of the former athlete are qualified as assistance to the occupying state (Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The traitor faces up to 12 years in prison.

It is worth noting that Davydko has been a member of the Russian national team since 2016, but after the ban on Russian athletes from participating in international competitions, she "put her career on hold."

In 2012, Olha took part in the second season of the STB TV show Zvazheni ta Shchastlivi (Weighted and Happy), where she lost almost 100 kg from her starting weight of 186 kg.
