Trubin to become a Benfica player

Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin is likely to leave the team this summer. The 22-year-old Ukrainian national team player is set to join Lisbon's Benfica, which was cursed by legendary Hungarian coach Bela Guttmann.

According to a well-known football insider, Nicolo Scira, who wrote about it on Twitter, the Eagles offered the Miners €12 million for the player, including bonuses. In addition, Shakhtar will receive 40% of the future resale of Trubin from Benfica to another club.

A contract has already been agreed with the goalkeeper until 2028. The Ukrainian footballer will receive two million euros per season in Lisbon. Negotiations between the clubs are at the final stage.

It should be noted that the so-called curse of Bela Guttmann dates back to 1962. After winning two European Champions Cups in a row, the Hungarian demanded that Benfica's management raise his salary, but was refused. As a result, the coach left the club and said that without him, Lisbon would not win a European trophy for 100 years. Since then, the Eagles have lost all eight European Cup finals in which they have participated.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Shakhtar Donetsk punished Anatoliy Trubin for refusing to sign a new contract with the club a year before the expiry of the current agreement. Prior to that, the Ukrainian goalkeeper had agreed to join Inter Milan.
