UEFA suspends Russian representative from Shakhtar's Champions League match

The head of the Russian Football Union's (RFU) refereeing department, Milorad Majic, will not be working at Shakhtar Donetsk's next Champions League match. Initially, the famous Serbian referee was supposed to observe the work of the referees in Shakhtar's match against Antwerp on Wednesday, October 4.

However, he is not on the list of delegates for the match, which can be seen on the official website of the European Football Union (UEFA). The Dutch representative Jan Wegereef will serve as a referee observer at the game instead.

It is he who will oversee the work of the Slovenian Rade Obrenovic's team. He will be assisted by linemen Jure Praprotnik and Grega Kordež, and Slavko Vincic will play the role of the fourth referee.

It should be noted that earlier UEFA appointed a team of Russian referees for the Women's Nations League match, and referee Sergei Karasyov was called to the training camp in early September.

In addition, last week, Russian youth national teams were returned to qualifying tournaments for the European Championships. This caused a massive boycott by many countries.
