UEFA has made an official statement on Russia's return: the only condition is named

Russian teams will not return to international football tournaments until the occupiers leave the territory of Ukraine. Thus, the representatives of the aggressor country face a multi-year ban from the competition.

This was stated by the President of the European Football Union (UEFA), Alexander Čeferin, in an interview with Slovenian TV company N1. "How long will Russia be excluded from European football competitions? Until the end of the war," the sports official said categorically.

He also expressed regret that his organization had to terminate its sponsorship contract with Gazprom. "After the war broke out, we had to show the company's ads on the territory of stadiums where hundreds of millions of people watch the matches. I am sorry that it happened, but we had to do it. But it is also a fact that those who still buy gas from this company are the most outraged about this," Cheferin said.

Earlier, the vice president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Denis Solovyov, said that his country is ready to withdraw from UEFA within two years.

As a reminder, Russian clubs are suspended from the Champions League, UEFA League, and Conference League, and the national team is suspended from the qualifying tournament for the 2024 European Championship and the League of Nations.
