Sevilla striker Rafael Mir Vicente, who is on loan from Valencia, was arrested on Monday, September 2, by representatives of the Spanish Civil Guard, Cadena SER reports. The 27-year-old vice-champion of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo is accused of sexual assault against two 25-year-old women.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred the day before at a private party at the footballer's home. Another man, who is also in custody, may have participated in the crime. The victims sought medical attention at the nearest hospital.

The forward is in police custody and is expected to testify soon. Because of this, he missed Valencia's training session.

"Valencia released a statement in connection with the news of Rafa Mir's arrest, saying that the club is aware of the player's situation, but "at the moment it can only say that it will cooperate" with justice. It also informed about the "lack of details".

Mir joined Sevilla on loan with an option to buy in July 2024 after long negotiations with Valencia. The contract is valid until the end of the season.

Prior to that, Rafa Mir played a total of 8 official matches for the first team during his time as a Valencia player.
