"They killed children!" In Russia, the Spartakiad race ended in a massive collapse and hospitalizations

A race at the Winter Student Spartakiad, which is taking place these days in Sochi, Russia, ended in a massive collapse. 14 skiers aged 17-18 did not finish the course, some athletes were injured and hospitalized, which caused an angry reaction from the athletes' relatives.

This was reported by Sport24. Nine people were hospitalized. Preliminarily, two skiers had broken arms, and seven others suffered severe bruises. Several people went to the doctors on their own. The video posted online shows that the competition itself took place in terrible weather conditions.

The athletes and their relatives complained about the unpreparedness of the track. "My daughter was injured, we are now going for an MRI. The track is just sh*t! It's melted, there's loose snow, and before the competition we had to go on a snowmobile. The snow turned to ice! Who came up with the idea to hold a race for children there? I just can't wrap my head around it. They just killed the children! One girl arrived at the finish line with a bloody head, blood dripping down her forehead. Someone was taken away on a stretcher. I demand that everyone be punished!" the mother told one of the skiers.

"There are two injuries: one girl got a head injury, the other one broke her arm. Fortunately, there is nothing else. The girls are currently in the hospital," commented Elena Vyalbe, President of the Russian Cross-Country Ski Federation (RCCF).
