Sergio Arribas, a World Cup winner with Real Madrid who has been playing for Almeria since 2023, performed a heroic act during his vacation in the Maldives. The 23-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder and his girlfriend Ana Martin were swimming in the pool in their hotel room when they heard cries for help.
Seeing the couple drowning in the sea, the footballer did not hesitate and jumped into the water, swimming to the rescue. Then several other people joined the Spaniard and managed to save the victims.

The video from the surveillance cameras was posted by the Spanish edition of Marca. In a few days, the video went viral.
On February 8, 2023, in the semifinal match of the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco, Arribas came on the field instead of Vinicius Junior in the last minutes of stoppage time and scored the first goal for the Blancos first team.
