Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasiliev believes it is inevitable that the Russian flag will return to global competition. The 61-year-old native of St. Petersburg said that all Russians are proud to "honor the Russian flag" and are proud of it.

According to Vasiliev, the greatness of his country is an indisputable fact and will soon be realized.

"The Russian flag will be raised at all international sporting events just like the sun rises in the morning. This is an inevitable fact. There can be no doubt about it. Of course, we proudly honor our flag, we are proud of it. When the national anthem is played and the flag is raised, there is pride. Even a lump comes to my throat," Sport-Express quoted Vasilyev as saying.

Such pathetic words of the former athlete caused a real hysteria among Russian fans.

"Where is all this excitement coming from? What is all this running around the flag? Wouldn't it be better to be proud of the fact that, for example, our pensioners would be traveling around the world on their pension, instead of scouring Magnit in search of shares?", "What is he talking about? Earlier, Russian track and field athlete Anna Kulinich-Sorokina complained about the ban on the Russian colors and the country's name at the 2024 Paralympic Games. The competition will take place from August 28 to September 8 in Paris.

Recently, Vasilyev has categorically opposed the participation of Russians in the 2024 Paralympics in Paris in the so-called neutral status. The former biathlete called the conditions of admission humiliating and accused international sports organizations of humiliating representatives of the aggressor country.
