Serhiy Rebrov said that his only obstacle to joining the Ukrainian national team was his unexpired contract at Al Ain. The agreement between the Ukrainian coach and the Arab club is valid until June 30.

"We are currently resolving this issue, because the contract with Al Ain is valid until June 30, so we have not yet completed all the issues. However, on June 4, I am going to Kyiv and probably on the 6th, in the morning, I will be in the capital of Ukraine. I believe and hope that we will finish all the business with Al Ain and if everything goes well, I hope we will sign a contract," Rebrov said during Breakfast with 1+1.

Serhiy Stanislavovych tried to predict his first moves as the Yellow and Blues' coach.

"I was thinking about what to do next in the national team of Ukraine a month ago, as it is a very big responsibility. My coaching staff and I started preparing for the Euro 2024 qualifiers a few weeks ago, knowing that it is very important for our country at this time. What is the probability that everything will go well? We have already agreed on everything in principle. Only Al Ain's permission is needed and there is nothing to discuss," Rebrov said.

On April 17, it was reported that Rebrov had agreed on the terms of his contract with the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).

Back on May 18, a reputable Italian insider Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Dynamo legend would soon be introduced as the new coach of the yellow and blue team.

On August 26, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) named the national team for Rebrov's first matches: against Germany (12 June) and the 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers against North Macedonia (16 June) and Malta (19 June). One of the national team leaders, Oleksandr Zinchenko, was not included in the list due to injury.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, under the leadership of acting head coach Ruslan Rotan, Ukraine made a poor start in the qualifying tournament for the 2024 European Championship, losing in England.
