Ukrainian midfielder Roman Bezus of Greek side Omonia brought his team a 3-2 victory in the first match of the second qualifying round of the Conference League against Gabala from Azerbaijan. The 32-year-old former Ukraine international scored a hat-trick.
In the last seconds of the first half, Roman levelled the score (1-1) with a direct free kick. The midfielder scored two more goals after the break.

In the 50th minute, the visitors were awarded another free-kick and the Ukrainian again masterfully converted it. After Roman's "shot", the round projectile flew straight into the net (2:1). After 12 minutes, the hosts regained their balance.
In the 82nd minute, Omonia was awarded a penalty, which was perfectly executed by the Ukrainian.
It will be recalled that Bezus has been playing for Belgian side Gent since 2019, where he scored 16 goals in 89 matches. In August 2022, he joined Omonia as a free agent. Since then, he has played 37 matches for the new club. Taking into account the match against Gabala, Bezus scored 7 goals.
