"This is dumb": Fetisov lashes out at Latvia and demands to "build bridges" with Russia

Famous Russian hockey player Vyacheslav Fetisov has lashed out at Latvia, which has banned its athletes from competing with teams from Russia and Belarus. The Olympic champion called Ukraine's friends morons whose decision should be reversed in the future.

Fetisov said this in an interview with the propaganda channel Match TV. The Stanley Cup winner expressed confidence that the situation in the world "will definitely change" and that sports should remain "the main force, building bridges," forgetting that his country violated all the rules, including the "Olympic truce" in 2022, when it attacked Ukraine.

"This news makes me laugh. Nevermind. If they don't want to play us, let them be. We will not lose anything from this. How can we pass laws that will have to be changed sooner or later? This is a competition of madness, I can't call it anything else... This is dumb... I always quote Sergei Lavrov as he found the right definition for talentless politicians who make crazy decisions that make no sense: this is "debility" in its fullest manifestation," Fetisov said.

Before that, Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasiliev called on Russia to seize power in the International Olympic Committee. And former Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov demanded that the IOC disqualify Latvia.
