Zakharova runs into UAF

The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) has caused real anger among Russians after it appealed to UEFA and FIFA to ban the Russian national team's friendly match with Serbia. Our federation insists on the need for consistent isolation of representatives of the aggressor country in sports.

In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukrainians of terrorism. "Terrorists are terrorists in everything," the dictator Vladimir Putin's henchwoman told the propaganda outlet Sport-Express.

In turn, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova was outraged by such a demand from the UAF in a commentary to Russia Today. The Olympic champion in speed skating noted that the friendly match between the Russians and the participants of Euro 2024 has nothing to do with Ukraine, and international organizations will take the side of the aggressors.

"The act is absolutely out of malice! Ukraine is trying to be consistent in its actions and boycotts everything related to Russia to prevent us from playing with anyone. But we must understand that such pressure will not work with Serbia. Our friendly match has nothing to do with the UAF. What will they do next? Will they try to disqualify the Serbs? UEFA will also say that the UAF has no reason to ban such friendly matches," Zhurova said.

It should be noted that Western journalists have denied the information provided by the Russian media that UEFA has agreed to hold a sparring match between Russia and Serbia. The match is to take place in Russia in March next year.
