Tennis player dressed in the colours of Ukraine and sensationally defeated Russia's second racket at Roland Garros
Slovakian tennis player Anna Karolina Schmiedlová caused a sensation on social media after her sensational victory at the French Open. The 28-year-old native of Bratislava defeated 11th seed Veronika Kudermetova from Kazan in two sets.
The Russian second seed made 40 unforced errors in the match, which ended 6-3, 6-1.
Immediately after the victory, Anna Karolina made it clear on her Instagram that it was no accident that she wore a yellow and blue outfit to the game against Russia. In her story, she marked a picture of the match with yellow and blue hearts.
After this victory, Schmiedlová received a flurry of enthusiastic messages on Twitter.
On Thursday, June 1, the Slovakian will play against Elena Bolshova, a Spanish tennis player with Moldovan roots, in the second round of Roland Garros.
