Special status: Russia has put forward a ridiculous ultimatum to move from UEFA to Asia

Russia, upon its withdrawal from the European Football Union (UEFA), is demanding a special status in the Asian Confederation (AFC). The aggressor country, which has never been among the leaders in the sport, has once again imagined itself to be special because of its territorial size.

This ultimatum was put forward by the president of the Russian Premier League, Aleksander Alaev, in an interview with the RB Sport portal. The official expressed confidence that competitions in Asia should be reformed in favor of the Russian Federation if it decides to change its football residence.

"We are Russia, a large and strong country, and we cannot join on the terms of a mere member of the association. I guess we can assume that we should play a leading role in the potential transition. Let's assume that if we enter Asia, it will be with a big project, reforming the competition system. I don't fully understand how any of our clubs participating in Asian competitions play in the Champions League in Qatar (short-season), Vietnam or New Zealand (long-season) on Wednesday, and play in the championship on Saturday or Sunday," Alaev said.

Earlier, the head of the HRC told the "harsh truth of life" regarding the return of Russian club teams and national teams to European tournaments.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said that Russian teams would not return to international football tournaments until the occupiers leave the territory of Ukraine.
