"Shakhtar's" Champions League match ended in a scandal and a suspension

After the final whistle in the Champions League match between "Shakhta"r and "Antwerp", the Belgian club's players clashed with the Ukrainian players. The visitors were not ready for defeat, and they lost their nerve.

As soon as the match was over, "Antwerp's" No. 11 Arnbor Mouya approached the "Shakhtar's" Georgian defender Irakli Azarov and started swearing in English. Then his teammates joined the aggressor.

"There was Janssen, he wanted something again, he was jumping around. But I understand them, because they had already been eliminated, hadn't scored a single point, and wanted to provoke us somehow, to spoil our mood," Valerii Bondar told Megogo about what happened.

As a result of the scandal, head referee Bartosz Frankowski gave Moue a red card. Ukrainian goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk also received a warning.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on November 28, Shakhtar defeated Belgian side "Antwerp" in the 5th round of the Champions League group stage. Nominally, the home match in Hamburg, Germany, at the "Volksparkstadion" stadium ended with a score of 1-0, which guaranteed the 3rd place in Group H and the Europa League playoffs.

For the Donetsk club, this was the seventeenth appearance in the European spring stage in its history, which is a record for Ukraine. Dynamo's closest pursuer has participated in the spring stage of European competitions 13 times since 1991.
