Scandal of the day. UEFA laid a "Russian pig" for a Ukrainian club in European competitions
Ukrainian football club Kryvbas has asked UEFA to replace Turkish referee Arda Kardesler, who was appointed to the 2024/2025 Conference League playoff match between Kryvbas and Betis. The match is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, in Kosice, Slovakia.
On March 21 this year, 36-year-old Kardeschler officiated a friendly match between Russia and Serbia in Moscow.
"We consider it unacceptable to involve Arda Kardeschler in the service of a match involving a Ukrainian football club," reads a statement on the official website of Kryvbas.
The club focused on the fact that Kardeschler's appointment discredits Kryvyi Rih in the eyes of their fans.
"Among the fans there are many military men who are now defending our country from Russian attacks, as well as the whole of Ukraine, which is suffering from Russian military aggression," Kryvbas noted.
