Russian Olympic champion insults IIHF head who punished Russia for spitting on world hockey rules

Kozhevnikov condemned the IIHF

Two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov lashed out at International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Luke Tardif after the organization disqualified Russian goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. The winner of the Sarajevo-84 and Calgary-88 Games was outraged that the aggressor country was being punished at a time when it was suspended from competition.

Kozhevnikov said this in fury in a comment to the portal Vprognoze.ru. The former hockey player called Tardif a "political prostitute" who "fulfills the desires of the West". He demanded from the IIHF "a normal human decision", despite the fact that Russia brazenly violated international rules and agreements.

"We don't play in any international competitions. Why does the International Ice Hockey Federation impose its decisions on us? On the one hand, nobody seems to need us, but at the same time they decide for us. This is politics. IIHF President Luke Tardif is a real political prostitute. He fulfills the wishes of the West. When the FHL appealed to the IIHF, it was counting on a normal human decision. But, apparently, Tardif consulted with someone," said Kozhevnikov.

It should be noted that Fedotov was disqualified for signing a contract with CSKA Moscow while having a valid agreement with the National Hockey League (NHL) club Philadelphia Flyers. It should be noted that the Russian national team goalie has agreed to move to the American team" in May 2022.

The very next month, the hockey player was detained and forcibly drafted into the Russian army. It is assumed that the athlete was sent to the Russian Armed Forces on purpose to prevent him from moving to an NHL club. At the same time, CSKA Moscow signed a parallel agreement with Ivan.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov threw a real tantrum over the disqualification of Ivan Fedotov, calling to "shove in one place" the IIHF decision.
