Egorian spoke out about Ukrainians

Olympic fencing champion Yana Egorian spoke cynically about Russian aggression against Ukraine. One of Olha Kharlan's rivals noted that she calmly treats the refusals of our athletes to welcome representatives of the Russian Federation at competitions.

Egorian said this in an interview with the YouTube channel of journalist Viktor Kravchenko. The Russian saber fencer, who was hysterical over Kharlan's automatic admission to the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris, also expressed the absurd opinion that the Russian Federation's suspension from international tournaments is related to competition and not to the criminal war in Ukraine.

"I understand people and our sports friends from Ukraine. I understand why they behave like that. And I have no right to judge them at all. It's their home, it's their families, it's their halls. They have the right to do so. We have two options: to accept this, because they do not bring us anything bad, or to antagonize them. I have taken the position of simply accepting. Our suspension has nothing to do with war. It is a matter of competition. We are the strongest fencers in the world. Everyone is fed up with us," Egorian said.

Earlier, Ilgar Mamedov, president of the Russian Fencing Federation (RFF), fears the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in competitions with Ukrainians.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Olha Kharlan revealed how she reacted to the disqualification at the World Championships after refusing to shake hands with the Russian athlete in an interview with our publication.
