Famous Russian hockey player Yevgeny Khatsey died in Omsk at the age of 47, reports СЭ. The cause of death was a heart attack.

"He fell out of the blue and died. Probably a heart attack," the source said.

Khatsey was a graduate of Mechel Chelyabinsk. In 2004, he won the Russian championship, and the following year he won the 2005 European Champions Cup with HC Avangard. He has played as a striker for Torpedo Yaroslavl, Metallurg, Amur, Siberia, Avangard and Vityaz.

In total, he played 808 games in various leagues, scored 113 goals, made 88 assists, and accumulated 704 minutes of penalties.

In May 2022, Khatsey became the director of the Omsk club's academy. Previously, he worked as general manager of Yugra and director of hockey operations at Avangard.
