Russian Federation calls Western sanctions in sports "a gift for us" and announces tournaments that "have no analogues in the world"

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko has been enthusiastic about Western sanctions against the aggressor country. The accomplice of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime expressed confidence that the restrictions played into the hands of Russians and allowed them to develop sports.

Chernyshenko said this in an interview with the propaganda channel Match TV. The accomplice to Russia's war crimes against Ukraine called Russia "an advanced, innovative state that sets trends," citing the so-called Future Games, which few people were interested in holding even in Russia itself.

"Despite serious external threats, top-level sports are actively developing in Russia. Along with the promotion of classical sports, new formats are being created in Russia that have no analogues in the world. The first-ever human history Games of the Future became a key innovative sporting event. Russia has once again proved that it is an advanced, innovative country that sets trends. I am sure that the sanctions imposed by unfriendly countries were a gift for us," Chernyshenko said.

Earlier, former figure skater Kristina Oblasova called the Kremlin's narratives about the rise of Russian domestic competitions "complete sh*t".

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, a well-known figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of "inhuman conditions" for Russian athletes at the 2024 Games in Paris.
