The International Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo) launched an investigation into Russia after the local national association incorporated the federation of temporarily occupied Crimea. The aggressor country did so after its athletes gained the right to compete in the sport's world championships in accordance with International Olympic Committee (IOC) criteria.

So says the authoritative portal Inside the Games, which made a corresponding request to the World Taekwondo. They confirmed the proceedings against the Russians, but refused to provide details.

"Regarding the allegations against the Russian Taekwondo Union, World Taekwondo is currently investigating the matter and will not comment further until the process is completed," the federation said in its response.

Earlier it became known that Russian Olympic champions Tokyo 2020 Vladislav Larin and Maxim Khramtsov were not allowed to the world taekwondo championship. Both athletes are members of the CSKA and support the war in Ukraine. Larin himself pretended not to understand the World Taekwondo decision.

Recall that the International Olympic Committee (IOC).recommended that federations suspend from competition Russian athletes related to the Russian army and security forces, as well as from team sports.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) called the IOC's demand to condemn the war in Ukraine "sorting people by origin" and "denial of the fatherland".
