After Manchester City defeated Inter in the Champions League final, it became known that Shakhtar would be placed in the third basket during the draw of the 2023/2024 season. Should Inter win, the Orange and Black would move up to the second basket.

Along with the Donetsk club there are already Salzburg, AC Milan, Lazio and Crvena Zvezda. These teams will not fall to the Pitmen.

All of Shakhtar's potential opponents are as follows:

Manchester City, Sevilla, Barcelona, Napoli, Bayern, PSG, Benfica and Feyenoord.
