Croatian Euro 2012 participant calls the war in Ukraine one of the "conflicts around the world" and stands up for the Russians

Former Lokomotiv and Dynamo midfielder Tomislav Dujmović expressed a cynical opinion that there are no grounds for suspending Russian athletes from international competitions. The former Croatian national football player called Russia's criminal war against Ukraine one of many "conflicts around the world."

Dujmović said this in an interview with the propaganda channel Match TV. The 2012 UEFA European Championship participant repeated traditional Kremlin narratives about alleged politicization and accused the European Football Union (UEFA) and the International Football Federation (FIFA) of interfering with Russian young athletes.

"This is pure politics. And such injustice exists everywhere in life. It is a pity that this is happening. The athletes are innocent: why punish them? I don't understand. There are more than enough conflicts around the world, so why exclude everyone? In addition, the position of UEFA and FIFA interferes with the education of young people. What message do they send? In Russia, for example, many young guys have probably changed their minds about playing football now," Dujmović said.

Earlier, the honorary president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Vyacheslav Koloskov, denied that Russian teams would return to UEFA youth tournaments in 2024. And former Russian national team player Roman Shirokov, threatening UEFA and talking about a "winning country," said that Russians would return to European football tournaments on their own terms.
