Not because of Ukraine: Russian Federation published a lie about Polish chess player's refusal to shake hands with Russian

Duda refused to greet the Russian

The Vice President of the Russian Chess Federation (RFCF) Sergey Smagin pretended that Pole Jan-Krzysztof Duda did not shake hands with Russian representative Denis Khismatullin because he condemned the war in Ukraine. The official criticized the grandmaster for this act, calling it stupid.

He said this in an interview with the propaganda publication Gazeta.Ru. One of the leaders of the Polish Chess Federation added that he did not believe in the Polish athlete's support for Ukrainians, and explained his boycott by the fact that Khismatullin is the coach of the traitor of our country, Sergey Karyakin.

"This is a stupid story. Moreover, as I understand it, Duda refused to shake hands for completely different reasons than Ukrainian athletes - due to the fact that Khismatullin helps and seconds Sergey Karyakin. But for every Duda, there are thousands of guys who simply honor professional ethics and try not to associate politics with their colleagues. This is his personal choice," Smagin said.

Earlier, the president of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili, attacked Duda with insults, calling him an ill-mannered pig.

It should be noted that Duda openly supports Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. "Poland will not abandon Ukrainians in this difficult situation. We stand with you. Our country accepts refugees and provides all support. We say no to war!" he wrote in February last year, posting the flag of our country on his Instagram page.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Denis Khismatullin commented on the refusal of Pole Jan-Krzysztof Duda for the first time and said he was not complaining about his opponent.
