"Morons!" Russian World Cup champion throws a tantrum over Russia's suspension from the World Hockey Championship
Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov has lashed out at the leaders of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and its president, Luc Tardif. The former USSR national team defenseman was enraged by Russia's latest suspension from competitions, including the 2024 and 2025 World Championships.
Fetisov said this in a commentary to the propaganda publication Sport-Express. The two-time Stanley Cup winner, who fiercely supports the regime of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine, called the IIHF leadership morons with nothing to talk about.
"It is high time to end this story. We have elected the wrong president here in St. Petersburg. There is no one to talk to and no one to hope for. Bure was not allowed to discuss it? What is expected of these morons then? Sergei Lavrov gave this definition of incompetence of international officials," Fetisov said.
It should be noted that Belarusians will miss the 2024/25 hockey season along with the Russians. Thus, they will not be rivals of the Ukrainian national team in the Olympic qualifiers for the 2026 Games.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov, saying "we will never be slaves," called on Russians to "endure and wait" for the lifting of sanctions.
