At the end of March 2023, the 38-year-old striker announced his retirement: "I could have stayed and played for another N years, and been amazed by the young people, but I don't want to take their place, especially in the second league, and instil a complex in them."

Yatskevich emphasised that everything is sad in Belarusian sports, particularly in local football: "And I, as a husband and father, have to think about how to provide for my family, so, as you already know, I started working in real estate (please contact me, I'll be glad to). As a tribute to the sport, I continue to train our chicks."
