Legendary Karpaty footballer suffered a rocket attack in Lviv

Volodymyr Danyliuk, the top scorer in the history of Karpaty and Honoured Coach of Ukraine, was injured in a night-time Russian missile attack on Lviv. The 75-year-old ex-footballer played 293 matches for the Lviv club between 1966 and 1978, scoring 88 goals.

According to Ukrainian sports journalist and football historian Oleksandr Pauk, Danyliuk's apartment was left without windows and doors after the shock wave.

"Volodymyr's wife Yaroslava was not at a loss and helped her husband get out of the destroyed apartment No. 9. This is the number under which Volodya spent his football career. Unfortunately, other residents of the building did not survive this tragic night," Pauk wrote on Facebook.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on the night of 6 July, the Russian occupiers carried out the largest missile attack on civilian buildings in Lviv since the beginning of the full-scale invasion: Kalibr missiles hit a critical infrastructure facility and a residential building.

As a result of the terrorist actions of the aggressor country, five people were killed and 40 others were injured, including a child.

According to Sadovyi, the Russian missile attack damaged approximately 60 apartments in the residential high-rise building and a number of other buildings around it.
