"It's a holiday": Russia refuses to pay prize money to "alternative Olympics" medalists

Russians will not be paid for the CIS Games

The Russian Ministry of Sport will not pay bonuses to athletes who won medals at the so-called CIS Games, which ended in Minsk on August 13. The athletes from the aggressor country were explained that these competitions are a holiday for them, and prize money can be paid only for "really successful performances".

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Alexei Morozov in a commentary to the propaganda news agency TASS. According to him, the Games in Belarus, which were ridiculed by Russian fans, gave athletes an opportunity to feel the competition. At the same time, the official forgot, in particular, that the Russian handball team beat its rivals with a score of 76:1.

"At the moment there are no prize money for the winners and medalists of the CIS Games, this is for us first of all a sports festival for sports results and competitiveness. The subjects of the Russian Federation, where we have athletes from, make their own motivation programs. But we will actually think about prize money after a really successful performance," Morozov said.

Russians won 149 gold medals.
